Recipe #13: Mutton Masala

Found the recipe for this dish this in the masala packet from my sister's mother-in law. My husband has already tried this recipe 4 times now and ironed out the finer details. I hope he will be making it again (and soon!).
INGREDIENTS

1 kg (~2.2 pounds) Mutton - lamb/ goat meat- cut into small pieces (works with pock ribs as well) 
1 large onion (cut length-wise) 
1 large tomato (cut into small cubes)
1/2 cup coconut milk 
50 g/3 spoons mutton masala (or replace with 1tsp chilli powder, 1tsp garam masala, a pinch of turmeric and 1/2 tsp cumin powder) 
8-10 curry leaves
2 tsp chopped coriander leaves
1/2 tsp cumin seeds

METHOD
  • Sautee the meat with tomato and onion in oil. 
  • Pressure cook the mixture with 1/2 cup water, coconut milk, 50 g mutton masala and salt for 3 whistles. 
  • Garnish with curry leaves, coriander leaves and cumin seed. 
  • Serve with rice, any indian bread (roti, naan or parota) or idli/dosa.
